HI all, I am hoping someone can help me with this issue. I have inserted a video clip (mp4) into a slide in a Powerpoint (office for mac 2011) presentation. When I first insert the clip, it successfully plays. However, once I save the entire presentation as a ppt or pptx file, and then re-open the file, the video no longer plays. The play bar no longer shows when I mouse over the bottom of the video embedded in the slide. Nothing happens.

That file type does not support video. See the PowerPoint Help article: IMHO, you'd do best to avoid the abandoned.ppt file type altogether. If you must use it for some reason, you'll have to Link to (rather than embed) the media file & provide a copy of it along with the presentation file if it has to travel to another location. Accordingly, if saving in the old format first the conversion takes place when you do. Saving the file again as.pptx file type does not reverse the conversion. If this is a preexisting file, Save As.pptx first, then insert the media file. Please mark HELPFUL or ANSWERED as appropriate to keep list as clean as possible ☺ Regards, Bob J. Thanks for the info. How To Insert A Slide In PowerpointI did not know that the.ppt file format does not support video, so that's helpful. I created the powerpoint presentation (w/video) on my 27in IMac and that's where the problem first appeared. Today, I recreated the presentation (in.pptx format) on my new Macbook Pro since that is the machine I will use to deliver the presentation, and the video worked! Nonetheless, as least now I can delate the.ppt file format and work exclusively with the.pptx file. BTW, I must use a.ppt template supplied by the organization hiring me for the presentation so therein lies the confusion re powerpoint formats in the beginning. I have another related question. When I insert the video file into the powerpoint slide it does not automatically size to fit the slide. Since there is identifying pre-printed info on the slide template above and below the video, I must right-size the video clip so as not to obscure this information. Is there any easy, more automatic way to do this or must I manually push and drag the clip to fit within the borders of slide template for each slide containing video?
